Chautauqua Series

What is Chautauqua?

Taking its name from a lake in New York State, the Chautauqua (shuh-tqaw-kwa) is a FREE humanities program that brings history to life in vivid detail. Join your fellow Marylanders at this year’s event, and meet and talk with celebrated figures from our nation’s past.

This summer marks the 23rd annual Chautauqua and commemorates the centennial of the United States’ entry into World War I by featuring three pivotal historical figures:

General John Pershing: Tuesday, July 11, 2017
W.E.B. Du Bois: Wednesday, July 12, 2017
President Woodrow Wilson: Thursday, July 13, 2017

All performances are at 6:45 p.m. on the La Plata Campus, Fine Arts Center Lawn.

Performances subject to change. In case of inclement weather, performances are to be held in the Fine Arts Center (FA Building), Theatre.

Free. Rain location, Fine Arts Center. Visit www.csmd.edu/community/the- arts/special-events/chautauqua/ or call 301-934-7828.
