The Calvert County Minority Business Alliance would like to extend its sincerest condolences to Jesse Reid, Sr., Jesse Reid, Jr. and family (including Vaughn and Gayle Reid and the Sewell family) on the passing of his dear beloved wife and our friend, Mrs. Ruth N. Reid. Ruth was recently honored by the Calvert NAACP at the Women of the World (WOW) Luncheon coordinated by the League of Women Voters and the Calvert Commission for Women. A brief summary of her accomplishments is below, because we know Mrs. Reid and her husband had been engaged in many civic and volunteer activities outside of their business and professions. Home going arrangements are also summarized below as well as at the link.
Ruth N. Reid retired from Calvert County Public Schools as Supervisor of Special Education. She now spends most of her time volunteering with NAACP Calvert County Branch, of which she is a life member, 1st Vice President, Chair of Minority Health Coalition, Chair African-American Family Community Day, Chair Annual Brunch luncheon, Chair Annual Branch Summit, Past Chair Huntingtown Learning center, and member of the Board of License Commissioners of Calvert County. Ruth also is Chair of Tri-County Selective Service Board and Calvert County Election Judge.
