This program is for those that have been in business less than one year, or are planning to open a business. Participants will learn how to build a profitable business and avoid common mistakes that lead to frustration and possibly failure. Each current business model will be evaluated in 10 key areas to ensure success.

In addition to our one-on-one confidential counseling services, the Maryland SBDC has developed several comprehensive programs for existing business owners. These certificate programs are facilitated strategic planning models rather than the traditional lecture/training class. The purposes is to teach aspiring business owners to think strategically to solve problems, develop a realistic plan, and acquire discipline to execute highest priorities. The facilitators and business coaches move each person to continuously improve and move them to the “next level”. As the program unfolds, you strategically choose your highest priorities and develop your own strategic plan. Emphasis will be placed on implementing the plan, not just creating it.
