Securing MBE and DBE Certifications for Your Business

The College of Southern Maryland’s Small Business Development Center has launched a new program to assist small and minority owned firms within Charles, Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties achieve Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) certifications from the Maryland Department of Transportation. The program is designed to meet with business owners in a mixed format of group and one-on-one sessions to assist your business in getting certified as an MBE and/or DBE business in Southern Maryland within 6 months.

Once enrolled in the program we will assist you in developing individual certification plans that focus on areas that you need assistance with. If your business is ready to submit a certification application, you can do so immediately. Should you require any additional assistance in gathering the documents, or understanding the submission requirements, we are able to provide that service on a schedule which works for you and your business.

Does Your Business Meet the Criteria?

  • Is your business based in Charles, Calvert or St. Mary’s County?
  • Have you been in business for at least one year?
  • Is your business for-profit?
  • Is you firm minority and/or woman-owned?

If you can answer yes to these four questions, you meet the minimum qualifications and we can help! The goal of this program is to ensure that our small and minority firms receive information and assistance to help your business grow and prosper. The program can be completed within 6 months, beginning with an initial assessment to determine your readiness and ending with us assisting you with the submission of a completed application.
