Welcome to the CASH NSBEJr Spring 2024 Auction, hosted by C.A.S.H. NSBE Jr., Calvert County Chapter of Maryland, a student chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)!

We are a dedicated non-profit organization committed to providing opportunities for children from grades K through 12 to explore, engage, and excel in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).

Our organization is hosting this online auction as a fundraising event to support the participation of our students in the National NSBE STEM annual convention scheduled for March 2024 in Atlanta, GA.

The convention provides a unique opportunity for our young participants to immerse themselves in hands-on STEM activities, gain exposure to diverse career paths, and connect with professionals in the field. Moreover, our students actively participate in STEM competitions held during the convention, allowing them to showcase their talents, exchange ideas, and learn from peers.

Mark your calendars! The auction is from Saturday, March 9, 2024 at 12pm– Sunday, March 10, 2024 at 4pm.

Julie Oberg, Director of the Calvert Department of Economic Development sent this information and request.  For those who are familiar, the Calvert County Minority Business Alliance and the Calvert NAACP have been advocating for a Local Preference program for many years.

The Calvert County – Procurement – Local Preference bill (HB0835) hearing is set for next Tuesday, February 20 in the Maryland House Health and Government Operations Committee.

If you would like to testify and/or submit written testimony, the window to do so will be this Friday, February 16 from 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.

The Witness Guidelines and Committee FAQs are attached and also linked here.   This link tells you how to upload a statement, letter, testimony, etc.  One can request to speak virtually and it is spelled out at this link.

Meet Alisa Daniels-McLeish the Founder and Executive Director of Blossoming Butterfly Warriors Inc., a grassroots non- profit that provides assistance and services to communities of color that have been diagnosed with chronic illness and autoimmune disease in the DMV area.  Through many grants for transportation, co-pay assistance, healthy eating and prescription assistance, we will empower and advocate for all autoimmune states. We provide virtual support groups and organize as well as participate in community events.

Alisa has over 25 years of experience in the federal government and over 15 years of serving in some capacity in the Public Health field. She is an experienced Victim Advocate and Public Speaker for HEAL Collaborative and Proximity Health Solutions.  The daily work in my organization focuses on community outreach, education to patients, and a weekly podcast on Envision Radio.  She has a passion for a passion for inclusivity, ending health disparities and inequities for people of color.  “This is an epidemic that must be addressed now! (Her exceptional skills in staff training and development, staff recruitment and retention, organizational and strategic planning, management coaching, budget management, and program marketing enabled the entire organization to grow and spread throughout Southern Maryland.
