My name is Alisa McLeish. I am the Founder and Executive Director of Blossoming Butterfly Warriors Inc., 501(C)3. It has taken some time, but we are fully able to raise funds and receive In Kind Donations such as gift cards to support our 8 community events this year so that we can offer support to eight upcoming community events and our support groups. Through mini grants and educational programming to include STEAM related programming which I have created and trademarked. We will empower an advocate for all autoimmune disease/chronic illness states. In addition, we have started scheduling our community awareness events in which we support all disease states. One of our goals is to bring awareness to schools, churches, libraries, and various other facets of the community on the state of the autoimmune community.
We are the only nonprofit that focuses on all autoimmune diseases for communities of color. We are the first organization of this kind and first African American organization of its kind. Below is our mission and vision.
MISSION: To bring global awareness to health inequities amongst people of color with autoimmune diseases in underserved communities to improve the quality of life through education, financial assistance, support, and advocacy. We are focused on achieving health empowerment for those that are affected by health inequities globally.
VISION: Create an inclusive, barrier-free society for people with autoimmune diseases.
I am a Cancer survivor that suffers from four autoimmune diseases. I would love to speak with you more about the organization and how we make a difference globally. As you may know, females are diagnosed three times as much as men and this is due to certain factors. Health
equity and disparities in communities of color must be addressed now! Health disparities are becoming an epidemic amongst communities of color. In recognizing this epidemic. The Calvert Collaborative for Children and Youth (3CY) is a 501©3 non-profit community building organization whose mission is to improve the lives of Calvert County children, youth, and families. Formed in 1998, the Collaborative serves as a community building, catalyst, advocacy and networking organization that supports and initiates collaborations among local organizations to fulfill child and youth needs countywide.
Our goals are to develop additional resources; youth leadership skills and activities; increase the availability of needed services; provide families with information about services, programs, and events via www.calvertkids.org; and address unmet needs of young people.
The Calvert Collaborative for Children and Youth develops and implements free pilot gap programs and offers free Asset Development training workshops to all county agencies, non-profits, educational entities, faith communities, neighborhoods and residents upon request.
